This website

We want grandtourgravel.com to work for everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, zoom or high-contrast settings. What we do:

• Semantic HTML: real headings, lists, tables with header rows, and landmarks for the header, navigation, main content and footer.
• Keyboard navigation: every link, button and menu works without a mouse, and a "Skip to content" link is the first thing on each page.
• Alt text on every meaningful photo, describing what is in it.
• Light and dark themes that follow your system setting, with text colors chosen for contrast in both.
• Layouts that reflow at phone width and at high zoom without sideways scrolling of the page. Wide tables scroll inside themselves.
• No autoplaying audio or video, and no content that depends on color alone. Status labels are written out in words.

Some pages carry embedded maps and elevation charts. The key numbers on them are also given as text on the same page.

The race

Under consideration Adaptive and para categories are under consideration for the race itself, including what courses, support and classifications would make sense on high-country gravel. Nothing is decided yet. See the race for the planned format, and join the update list if you'd like to be part of that conversation. Anything we decide is subject to permits, sanctioning and insurance.
